"Rock ENVY"

Anyone with a new house knows that landscaping can always fall into the "money later" list.  So when a guy in our neighborhood bought too many rocks for his yard, he offered them at a ridiculous rate to anyone.  I jumped right in and bought a few to be put in my yard.  The girls and I even strong armed those puppies around and did  a pretty good job placing them.

But as time would have it, we would drive by the various rock places and I would see these beautiful reddish rust colored rocks and I would have ....yup..you guessed it.  ROCK ENVY.  ( Did I mention that my next door neighbor has these REALLY cool rocks and I have looked at them a bit greenish too?)

So I came upon a plan.  On my morning walk, I see lots of cool rocks.  I am an artist.  I can paint my rocks to be more exotic and cool.  Yes, I can.  With a bit of paint and a sea sponge I went to it.  And this is what came out.

These are the "BEFORE"....
and these are the "AFTER"....not too bad right?

I think they look like they came right out of Zions Nat. park...and now I just smile and say...yup. Those are
homemade "RED ROCK".  Yessir.

  2. Wow! They're so fancy! Clearly, my idea of "painting rocks" was much more juvenile...and probably included only primary colors. Way to go!

  5. Wow! What a great idea and one that I have not seen anyone else do. I'm sure that saves a lot of money making run-of-the-mill rocks look like cool rocks (cool rocks probably cost more I'm guessing...I actually have no idea about that). Thanks for sharing your idea.
